NO. 1 OLD TIN TRAY

Alfred Wallis painting on an old tin tray

"Everything in Mr Wallis’s is nothing but boats. He’s painting them on everything". So said a neighbour of Alfred Wallis, and it was true.

Starting with this painting on an old tin tray, I thought I'd do a series of posts showing paintings Wallis made on various household objects.

This lovely example depicts a lugger sailing across Mount's Bay towards Penzance Harbour, with St Michael's Mount in the top left corner.
